Thank You Card

Firstly let me say I’m sorry I haven’t blogged for a couple of months, although I do have a good excuse!
I managed to go down with full blow flu on the 1st November, this developed into Bronchitis closely followed by Pleurisy! I was completely out of action for 6 weeks and still not totally recovered now 8 weeks on, but nearly there. The only good news was my husband Bob can cook, so I didn’t starve, I only cooked 1 meal in the whole of November!
Anyway what about this card, I hear you ask! I made this for our outgoing lady captain at my golf club.  The background was a piece I’d made in Eileen Godwin’s workshop in July last year, I loved it and I thought it would make a perfect piece once I’d added the die cut letters.

Recipe;
Card used; Crafters Companion Neenah
Embossing Folder; Spellbinders M-Bossabilities

My 1st Attempt at Journaling

I jumped at the opportunity to attend the fabulous Eileen Godwin’s journaling workshop held last week at Allhallows in Kent, these are my 1st attempts.  Once I put fear aside and got on with it I found it very liberating. If you fancy attending a class why not go to Eileen's blog to find out about dates.  http://eileenscraftyzone.blogspot.co.uk/

Eileen's September Workshop

So sorry for the delay in posting my makes from last week’s workshop; I’ve had such a busy week, I know that’s the same excuse as last month but it’s still true.

Everyone had another thoroughly delightful day at Allhallows last Saturday with Eileen if you do have the change come along, you wont be disappointed I promise.

 My favourite of these is the snowman card, in fact I liked it so much and it was SO simple to do I will be making many more of these;  You can find the techniques on how to make all these on Eileen’s blog at:   http://eileenscraftyzone.blogspot.co.uk/

I love this snowman so quick but fun

Cleaver technique on this 1 go to Eileen's blog to see how its done.

Re-Worked Card

Sorry for my absence in September, too much going on with golf at the moment so no time for craft. I did make both the grandchildren ‘back to school’ cards, but forgot to photograph them, oops!  I’ve also started my Christmas cards, only half made the 1st 6 so many more to do..

This card is using Sam Poole stamps, I made & blogged this card last month but I’ve added another flower as I thought it was a little out of balance.   I’m a real fan of Sam’s I think she designs great stamps.  I distressed the white cardstock first using various blues & greens, then used a couple of stencils to add interest.  I stamped the flowers directly onto the card then stamped them again onto another piece of cardstock then coloured both before cutting out and layering it on top of the first images.  I covered both of the flower heads in glossy accents to give them a super shine.
Recipe;
Card; 7 x 5 cards from Anna Marie Designs
Card used; Crafters Companion Neenah classic ultra-smooth cardstock, papermill direct lilac card stock
Stamps; - Sam Poole -
Art Flowers  - Sheena Douglass – Ageing Beautifully
Distress Inks; Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters& Black Soot
Frantage; – Shabby White embossing enamel
Trendy Tape;
Clarity; Dotty Wave Stencil 7 x 7 Inch – Ali Reeves – Leaf Stencil
Copics – Various colours for flower
From my stash; pearl brads

My First Clock

I love trying something new so when I got the call from Karen Clare AKA The Clock Lady a week or so ago to ask if I was up for a challenge I said a resounding YES!

I used all Clarity Stamps for this clock project, the stamps I used were, Douglas & Lily from the Remountable Clarity Characters set and the other main stamp is this month’s New Designs Clarity Club members stamp Cherry Cluster.

Having thought long and hard what to do and then completely changing my mind, I came up with this design after all who doesn’t love cherries! I stamped the cherries in place first and then used glossy accents to glaze the entire image.  Once dry I stamped the figures in place.  I used PanPastles to colour the background.

For more information of how you can make your own clock, click on the link to go to Karen's blog karenslittlegiftsandcards.blogspot.co.uk/   Some of you may have seen Karen's clocks when Clarity is on Create & Craft, Karen is one of the very talented members of the design team, and there is often one of Karen’s clocks exhibited.
Everything you need comes in the kit Karen supply’s, you just need your own stamps to design and personalise your clock.  Karen is starting up some monthly workshops, the first one is on October 6th and I’m booked on it, I can't wait!  If you would like to attend one of Karen’s workshops, details are on her blog.
Hope you like my clock I'm really chuffed with it!

Forced Rest & Nursing Duties

Afternoon; I haven’t been able to play golf in the past couple of weeks as I managed to tear something or other in my calf, this has coincided with Bob having kidney stones removed early last week hence the nursing duties.  Bob is much improved and now mobile; my calf has also improved although taking it time.  Bob was in hospital for 6 days, so daily visits last week, then this week I’m looking after my daughters cats as she and her family are on holiday. So for the past 2 weeks I've been out every day so my leg has taken longer to recover than I would have liked.  I’m hoping that I will be back to playing golf sometime next week when I’m no longer needed to keep an eye on the patient.

The good news is I’ve managed to make some cards this week.

The 1st card I’ve got to show you is a card I copied from Caz (daughter) who made it for Bob’s birthday, as she’s away I can blog it, he, he.  It’s a CAS style that is suitable for either a man or a woman.

Recipe;
Card used; White linen card & green cardstock from the papermill Direct
Die Cut; Memory Box – Typewriter Lower Alphabet

2nd Card - Jigsaw Card

I used Sheena Douglas flowers onto a A5 blank jigsaw puzzle card.

Used some distress inks to add some colour to the white card, stamped the leaves then coloured these, before cutting out the flowers then used sticky pads to attach them to the card.
Recipe;
Card used; 7 x 5 Craftwork cards
Teach Me – A5 Blank Jigsaw Puzzles
Distress Inks – Antique linin
Copics – Various for the flowers & Leaves
Hope you like them and thanks for looking.

PanPastle Card

Afternoon peeps, the sun still has his hat on and the British Open is on the TV for the next four days, so all is right in my world.   I’ve managed to make a pans card this morning despite having one eye on the golf.

Started by doing the sky and sun using the cloud mask and a mask for the sun, adding hills before using hairspray to ‘fix’ the pans then stamped the silhouette images.  I then used pans directly onto the base card so it extended the picture before again ‘fixing’ the pans with hairspray.  I used a nice bright orange then deep pink card to mat and layer the topper and then matted it onto the base card.  That’s it job done, need to get back to watching the golf with both eyes now. Thanks for looking today.

Recipe;
Card used; Papermill white linin,  orange & pink cardstock
Stamps; Clarity – Meadow Dance, Tree
Sentiment; Clarity – Sending You Sunshine

Gone Fishing…..

Now I know your all thinking, ‘wot no golf again, blimey she’s only made another blooming card’!  That’s 4 this month + a workshop.  Played golf yesterday and will be again on Saturday, even an addict like me needs to sit down and craft sometimes….. lol

I digress, fishy card; months ago now I bought some stamps from the talented Ryn (Designs by Ryn ~ Rubber Stamps) but just haven’t got round to using them until now.  I complained on fb that I had no fish and the lovely Rae Fairefoxes Dalal sent me the large fish I used on this card. (http://fairefoxes.blogspot.co.uk/)

Started by distressing the background then added the sea weed, kelp etc then added the fish.  I used cosmic shimmer powder to colour the large fish, you can’t really see it but they look really pearly with a lovely shine, added the water drops again using cosmic shimmer powders, lastly I added a couple of gems for bubbles.  Took a bit of time, but I’m pleased with the result.

Recipe;
Card used; Crafters Companion Neenah classic ultra-smooth cardstock, papermill direct teal card stock
Stamps; Clarity – fish stamps
Stamps; Design by Ryn – Seaweed, Kelp, Circle Cluster & water droplets
Distress Inks;  faded jeans, weathered wood, stormy sky, tumbled Glass, peeled paint, shabby shutters & Victorian velvet

Husbands Birthday Card

I’ve made another card for Bob as I wasn’t happy with my first effort;  I’m happy with this one.  I used all Clarity stamps for this card, the shell stamps were used to make the background paper, then distress inks and some copic’s pens to colour the shells.  I stamped the deck chair and beach huts on a separate piece of card and again used copic pens to colour the images, then used glossy accents on the deck chair seat to add some dimension.   I may enter this card into this month’s Clarity challenge.

Recipe;
Card used; Crafters Companion Neenah classic ultra-smooth cardstock, papermill direct red card stock, kraft card

New House Card

This card has been commissioned so I tried to do something a bit different (for me).   The stamps are called ‘Build a Country Scene, no idea where they come from just found them in the bottom of my box, but I think they work for a house moving card.  I stamped the house first, then put a mask over it and stamped the tree then added the fence. I embossed the mask onto white card before adding distress inks and cutting out the middle, layered it all together, job done..

Second Post Of The Week!

I make no excuses for still being in my Sam Poole phase, this time using her Enchanted Tree’s stamps.  I see this set as being more for masculine cards but thought I would try for a more feminine card, I think it works, what do you think? I used the card Sam made on C&C for inspiration.

Distressed background, then after dusting with an antistatic bag I inked and embosses the big tree with detail clear embossing powder, I then added cosmic shimmer pearl PVA berry red to the tree mat and layering onto lilac cardstock.

A Crafty Day @ Last

At last after SO much golf I managed to get into my craft room today and make a couple of men’s cards.  I know it was the hottest day of the year so far in the South East but, I don’t know when I’ll get another full day to craft and if I can play golf in the rain, I can make cards in the heat!
This card is for my nephew’s birthday next month, OK you’ve already guessed it’s another Sam Poole design, this time the Sherlock Holmes set.  Doesn’t take a genius to work out I’m a fan of Sam’s stamps does it!  I particularly liked these sets for men’s cards.  The photo frame is from another of her sets called Vintage Photography, the wording fitted perfectly.  I can see I will get lots of use from these sets always a bonus when money has been invested!

May's Workshop With Eileen

Another very informative & fun workshop with the delightful Eileen yesterday, such a lovely bunch of ladies attend each month I’m surprised we stop laughing long enough to produce anything, below are the makes from the class.  I can’t believe there is anyone who doesn’t know Eileen's blog but just in case you can find her at;  http://eileenscraftyzone.blogspot.co.uk/

Cards are a mixture of PanPastle & distress ink techniques, flower stamps are by Sheena Douglass, feather stamp is by Clarity

Anniversary Card

I made this card for my daughter Caz & Husband Daemon, for their 9 wedding anniversary on the 22nd.  I love the sentiment & had seen the bunnies in the moon on the clarity show.  I needed to give them the card early as I’m off to Cowden on Wednesday & Thursday for Barbara’s Kent workshop, really looking forward it.  I’m babysitting on Friday night, looking forward to film night & pizza with the children, while Caz & Dae can go out to celebrate.

I stamped the bunnies before masking them off, used a brayer to create the background, before tearing it to the size,  added a large heart I’d cut out, this is supposed to represent clouds, (artistic licence), then a lovely sentiment also torn & layered it up to keep the theme going & that’s that.

Recipe
Clarity Stamps; Bunnies, tree and birds
Sentiment Stamp; Sheena Douglas
Distress inks: Tim Holtz
Bits n pieces from my stash
I really enjoyed making this card, hope you like it & thanks for looking.

Pretty Car Card

I made this quick card is for my son’s girlfriend, he insisted it showed a car as she has just got a new blue one, so to pretty it up I used a mask and little girl holding a balloon.

I cut my normal white linen base card to size and holding the mask in place used PanPastles to make the background.  Stamped the car on another piece of card for the middle then used sticky fixers to give the little girl some height.

White base card is a square Craftwork 148x148 card
Stamps;  Clarity; Vintage Car; LOTV; Girl with Balloon

2 More Children's Cards

A couple of really quick children’s cards to post; I used dog toppers for these, not sure where I got them, it was very much a back of the draw find, but they are bright and colourful suitable for 2 year olds birthdays.

I used Clarity letterbox set and balloons
Very easy cards, but its the thought that counts, lol x

Funky Flowers

I really enjoyed making this card; I watched Sam Poole on C&C a couple of weeks ago using these stamps, so I’m afraid it was yet another ‘must have’ purchase!!

I cut a piece of white card to size and created the background using distress inks, before over stamping with various textured stamps.  I stamped the corners using Sheena’s corner stamp.  I coloured and added ‘jewels’ to the cut out flowers and added them along with the sentiment using foam pads to give depth to the card.  Finally I added some embossing enamel, heat setting it for texture for the final touches.

Recipe
White base card is a square Craftwork 148x148 card
Stamps; Sam Poole – Art Flowers, Sheena Douglass – Ageing Beautifully, Tim Holtz – Stampers Anonymous
Inks; Tim Holtz  Distress inks – Brushed Corduroy, Spiced Marmalade, Dried Marigold, Crushed Olive, Pealed Paint
